The Chemistry of Clean Melts
Dissolved hydrogen gas and oxide inclusions are the primary causes of pinhole porosity in non-ferrous melts. Modern drossing fluxes engineered by Kenit Metallurgy under Gaurav Vij react with oxide dross to form a dry, powdery surface layer, allowing maximum clean metal recovery.
Application Best Practices
- Add covering flux during the initial melt stage to prevent oxidation.
- Use plunged degassing tablets to release micro-bubbles that float trapped oxides to the ladle surface.
- Skim dry dross cleanly before pouring into molds.
